These MP3 files from my collection and record restoration projects
The files below were restored and converted to MP3
format from 78 r.p.m. records collected by my parents in Germany
between approximately 1930 and 1940.
The non-German records were banned by the Nazis at the
time as being "degenerate, non-Aryan". My father obtained
them by teaching English to the son of a record dealer who had them
smuggled into Germany. (There are all sorts of ways of resisting
oppression!)
The recordings were restored using Cool Edit 2000 and
its audio clean-up and noise reduction plug-ins.
When the project is complete, the results will be
archived as a two-CD set on the Wolf/media label and will be made
available to selected relatives and friends.
Note: Right-click the links to download files to your
computer.
These files are all mono (of course) and were converted at 128 Kb/s.
